Past Gatherings
We gathered as a small group at sculptor, Kieran Kinsella’s studio for a quiet morning of creative connection. We heard the story behind his process as well as a demonstration of his techniques. Then we toured the space where his one-of-a-kind pieces come to life, and shared a light lunch together. The session was structured around engaging in a lively group conversation with Kieran on topics including the nature of working in creative fields, the contrast between hand work and digital design and fabrication and the possibilities and limitations of each.
This was the first of our new In Practice series: exploring spaces, people and ideas that illuminate how creative work and careers actually get built in the Hudson Valley.
In mid-May we hosted a super fun and inspiring two day exploration of NYCxDesign. Our Field Trip took us to the new fair, SHELTER by Afternoon Light in Chelsea which had a great vibe and wonderful presentations from USM, Matter Made, Available Items, Sample House and many more. Day two included a walk through of the ICFF and Wanted with a special welcome from fair director, Claire Pijoulat-followed by lunch and a private tour of The Future Perfect Townhouse in the West Village.
We offered a rare chance to inhabit one of the Hudson Valley’s true modernist gems—Philip Johnson’s Wolfhouse—for an intimate day of architecture, design and great conversation.
This was a unique opportunity to explore this home and grounds with a small group of fellow creatives. We had experts on hand to illuminate our visit and yummy snacks to sustain us. Plus an optional architect inspired lunch.
